Hello Everyone,
Sorry for the delayed post, I've been extremely busy trying to do both work and school. Now that I've been at Michael Kors for about 4 weeks, I am starting to feel so much more comfortable and really starting to enjoy the work I do. A lot of the work that I've done has to do with the inventory of the outlet stores that Michael Kors has. I've been in charge of making sure orders are placed. I have also prepared a board that contains all of the new clothes that stores in Ireland and London are going to be selling (they are new stores that will be opening very soon). It's really cool to see the new styles that are going to be sent to the different stores especially since a lot of the stores contain a variety of clothing which is not necessarily the same within all stores. For example, the styles sent to London and Ireland are not similar to those styles sent to stores in the US. Another thing that I have been doing is researching consumer interest in a certain handbag that Michael Kors has come out with. I've been looking on various blogs and other places for information to see what people say about the purse. So far so good with the reviews! :) This might not sound like that much work, but this has taken up much of my time these past weeks. There is a lot of detail that goes into everything I do, so making sure I do everything correctly is my main goal. I really like it, though!
As for the commute, well I'm sort of getting used to it. Waking up at 5 and getting back around 8 can be a bit draining, but I try not to think about it. The worst is when the Septa trains are delayed, and then I miss my bus to NYC..annoying! But when there are no issues and everything moves smoothly, I'm a happy camper :). A lady I work with mentioned that what I'm doing is dedication and I just kept stressing the fact that I do it because I want to. I'm hoping to get a job out of this internship, because it's what I want to do. I've realized that in order to get what you want, you have to sacrifice and I am, so hopefully it works out!!
Anyways, I hope you are enjoying this wonderful snowday!! Being from Miami and all, I am AMAZED at the amount of snow we've gotten this past week!!! I secretly like it though! :)

Day Three
Hello Everyone,
Well today is day three of my internship. As I'm sure none of you know, I am interning for Michael Kors in New York City in the Corporate Retail Department. I started a week ago, on Wednesday and have been traveling back and forth from Villanova every Monday and Wednesday. Tiring, yes, but totally worth it. It is only my third day, and it might just be the honey moon stage of my internship, but I love it! The very first day, I went to a sample sale and got a pair of awesome heels for $20, that are normally $165 from the new collection. I knew this adventure was going to be good, when the absolute first thing I did was go shopping. As the day went on I met more and more people, who were all very nice and I was put right to work. The first thing I worked on was filling orders for the retail outlet stores. What was interesting about that is that you don't just send the store what they request, instead you have to look at everything from the average weekly sales, to the sales of last week, even statistical stuff such as the variance, to determine how much they will actually need. I thought that was pretty interesting. Ever since that day, I have been working on the layouts for the certain stores and how they will layout the clothes within that specific store, and I am also updating the system with the certain price discounts the items get once they go to the retail outlet stores. I am sure there is more to come, and I'm excited to see what else I am put to do!
That right there, was a brief overlook of my duties as an intern for Michael Kors, and for it being the first week, I am loving it! It's great to see the "behind-the scenes" of each retail outlet store, and I'm learning how they all work. As for the blogging, this is my first one too..so I hope it wasn't that boring. I am on the bus ride home (2 hours) but I am getting ready to take a nap because its been a very loooong day! Have a great night!
